Speaker: Kevin Hursh

Kevin Hursh is one of the country’s leading agricultural commentators. He is an agrologist, journalist, and farmer. Kevin and his wife, Marlene, run Hursh Consulting & Communications, based in Saskatoon. They also own and operate a farm near Cabri in southwest Saskatchewan, growing a wide variety of crops.
Kevin writes regular columns for The Western Producer and Farming for Tomorrow magazine. He also serves as chief agricultural editor for www.saskagtoday.com and helps with agricultural programming for Harvard Media’s CKRM Regina and GX94 Yorkton radio stations. Kevin graduated with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture in 1980.

In 2021, Kevin received a Distinguished Agrologist Award from the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists. He is also a frequent recipient of journalism awards from the Canadian Farm Writers Federation, the national organization of the Saskatchewan Farm Writers Association. In 2023, Kevin was inducted into the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame, and in 2025, he received an Honorary Life Membership in the Saskatchewan Agricultural Graduates’ Association.

The 2024 Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Dinner was held September 25, and featured guest speaker Brian Conn, Head of Grains and Oilseeds for Louis Dreyfus Company Canada.

It was attended by 320 guests, and raised about $21,000 for the ongoing work of maintaining and expanding the mill. The 2025 dinner dates will be announced in the new year.
