Where History Lives
~LEGACY FARMS~

We are pleased to recognize historic legacy families, farms or businesses.
Some farms are still home to the founding families; others were
homesteads of early settlers and residents of the area. All of them are
families and farms where history lives. These legacy families are being
recognized by those who support another historic landmark, the original
flour mill in the present location in Yorkton, being preserved and expanded
by the Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Society Inc.
HOW IT WORKS
The Legacy Family Program is a meaningful tribute to the family story.
How The Program Works
In recognition of a $5,000 donation, the family, the farm or the Business will be honoured both online and inside the new facility with an 24” x 32” personalized acrylic floating frame wall plaque that would be prominently displayed at the new Flour Mill Interpretive Center. It can be one single photo or a collage of various photos on a 16” x 20” stretched canvas. Under each photo will be a 8’’ x 17” engraved plaque with the dates of the farm's existence, a short description, land location, the rural municipality and the directions. The GPS latitude and longitude coordinates will mark the exact location of this farmstead, business or home. Anyone looking at the photo, can point their smart phone, at the scannable QR (Quick Response) barcode on the engraved plaque, giving them quick access to your own digital memorial page on the world wide web.
This page is a living digital memorial and can be added to at any time with more photos and unlimited information. The QR code will connect the visitor to a touching collection created to hold your family, farm or business memories for the family legacy program. The viewer will get more information, see family photos, videos, documents, journal entries, audio clips, or a biography. It's a good way to share the story of your family with friends and great place to preserve those memories for future generations to come. Anyone who visits the yorktonflourmill.ca website can go to the Legacy Family page and view any of the family stories with a click of a mouse, no need for a smartphone to enjoy the history online. These memorial pages can be accessed online by anyone who visits and scans the photo associated with the respective page. Share the QR code with family and friends, enabling them to participate in the remembrance from anywhere. It's a collective tribute to your family, fostering a sense of togetherness and digital storytelling.
